We here at Towne Interiors would like to help you identify the main
considerations a customer should think about when choosing flooring
for a specific room in your home.
Define
Your Space
Defining the space is a first step in decorating you home. The
size of the space you’re decorating is a very important
variable to the decision on how to decorate. Darker colors in
flooring can close in a room. Lighter colors can enlarge a room.
Larger rooms
are usually less labor intensive, while smaller rooms are generally
more labor intensive. How the room is used is also an important
question to ask when deciding on your flooring. High traffic
areas require more heavy duty flooring. Areas near entrance
doors should hold up to water and dirt. Consider how loud or
quiet the room is and how a floor can change the acoustics of
your space.
Is water or moisture an issue? Areas prone to moisture may make
you consider eliminating padding if carpeting was your flooring
choice. Ceramic tile would be the most waterproof product if
moisture is present.
Transitioning to adjoining rooms is very important to having
a nice flow in your house. Make sure flooring styles and colors
compliment each other and produce a nice flow throughout the
home.
Understand
Your Style
Understanding your style will help you to identify the right
decorating product for you and your home. Watching the home
decorating shows on TV can really expose the many styles (or
lack of) available to you today. You
may be a more traditional type person but you may like a formal
atmosphere in part of your home. How about a more casual atmosphere
for that family room? Or perhaps the contemporary theatre style
entertainment area? Does that strike a note? You may prefer
the sleek European clean look to the woodsy Rustic or North
woods feeling.
Our experienced staff here at Towne Interiors will be sure to
fit your style from the large selection of decorating products
available at our store.
The
Floor That Fits You
Let’s take time to evaluate your needs of the space we
are covering to help us get the right choice and best value
for our decorating dollar.
We at Towne Interiors have a staff with an average experience
of over 17 years. We love to search for the “best fit”
for your decorating needs, which in turn means the best value
for your home.
Many options are available in today’s market for floor
covering. Some are centuries old coverings like natural stone
or wood, while others like laminate flooring have hit the scene
only a decade or so ago.
It is very important to define your needs with flooring decisions
because it is usually a costly decision and a product you use
and want to enjoy every day for a long time.
Here is a list of some needs you may want to address before
buying a floor:
How permanent should this floor be?
Will this be a floor that will hold up to my kids or pets?
Am I looking to warm the space or soften the area?
How maintenance free is the floor?
Do I need to remove my old floor?
Will this show dirt?
Can I clean this easy?
Do I need this floor to make my room stand out or blend in?
Will this type of floor fit my budget?
What about the new recycled products? Will they work in my house?
